Come meet one of our local authors, Donna Rayburn. Donna will be available for questions and signing books this evening.
Lithia Author Publishes First Children’s Book Titled “I Accidently…”
How many parents snicker at their children’s silly antics and think, “I could write a book about all the funny stuff my kid does?” Well, that’s exactly what one former Walt Disney Resort CPA and mother of four did. Donna Rayburn, a FishHawk Ranch resident for the past 6 years, recently authored her first children’s book titled, “I Accidently…” The book is about her 7-year-old son Anthony who gets distracted and does not always pay attention during his kindergarten class. CEI, Inc., a Valrico book publishing company owned and operated by Valerie Lepore-Ney, is the publisher.
“My son’s experiences in kindergarten inspired me to write this book. He has so much enthusiasm for having fun wherever he goes,” says Rayburn. “He’s a sweet little boy who doesn’t realize that he can’t focus on fun and play everywhere he goes without sometimes suffering the consequences.” According to Rayburn, she created the book content from journals that she kept of her son. “I have journals for each of my children since they were born; I write about events or happenings in their lives. Last summer, I looked over my son’s journal and I thought his experiences in kindergarten would make a funny book,” she said.
Rayburn writes a parenting column in the Christian Voice Monthly newspaper, has been active in her community as a Girl Scout leader for 9 years and has served on numerous committees at the Nativity Catholic School. She and her husband of 14 years, William, have four children who attend Nativity Catholic School in Brandon: Catherine,12, Kirsten, 10, Anthony, 8, and Jennifer 5.
Rayburn is planning to publish a sequel to her current book, “I Accidentally… At Home”, which explores Anthony’s silly “accidents” at home which she hopes to have published in late 2010.
